THE WHO I AM PROJECT

What made me want to start this project? As I was flipping through the worn pages of my families' old photo albums, I thought to myself "Did I not exist as a tween?" Besides the traditional school photos, there were very few photos of me as a preteen. The one that sticks in my memory is of me sleeping in the car, drooling on myself and chubby chin center stage. I think that is when I started to fight being in front of the camera.

Babies are so cute, new and chubby. Toddlers have those big, bright eyes and lets face it, they just do the cutest things. But those tween ages are often forgotten. At ages 10-12, kids aren't children anymore but aren't quite teens. So, I'm making it my personal mission to capture those lost preteen years. The goal is to help tweens look good and feel good about themselves and have unshakable confidence in themselves when they hit junior high.

Who I'm looking for....
I'm looking for boys and girls between the ages of 10-12. I will ask the model and her parents and a few others in the model's circle to fill out a questionnaire. The answers will be used to help create combinations of meaning statements about and images of the tween, creating impactful pieces of art.

Why "Who I am"?
I want to capture the personality of the tweens that participate in the project and record the last stage of their childhood before they become young adults. I want them to realize how important they are and the impact they make on others so that they are confident in themselves before they hit Junior High. Imagine the impact a single beautiful image can do for your tweens self-image.
